Every minute of your weekend breakaway can be used for relaxing, exploring or simply enjoying the spectacular views of mountains, countryside, groves and pastures. Because convenience – and therefore little packing – is what a visit to the De Hoop self-catering cottages entails.
Although what you’ll eat and drink is up to you, we’ve thought of everything else: from linen and towels to cutlery, crockery and braai wood. (Bring a little spare cash for extra wood if you particularly love to keep a fire going.)
All the kitchens are conveniently equipped with a fridge/freezer, mini-oven, microwave oven, toaster and kettle, while the rooms are armoured against the winter cold with panel heaters. The living rooms are all air-conditioned and every cottage has indoor and outdoor braai facilities.
If you’re travelling in a group – small or bigger – socialising will be a priority and we’ve made it easy. Each cottage has its own braai area and private garden. Small groups, sharing one cottage, will therefore be out of sight of other guests, but bigger groups, sharing two or three cottages, can easily pop over to their neighbours.
Lovingly named after the owner’s previous three Boland farms, and the current farm where the cottages are situated, the cottages’ names reflect what you’ll find at De Hoop – peace and tranquility. But if the simple escape to silence is just a tad monotonous for the adventurous soul, why not bring your own gear and enjoy a day swimming, canoeing and fishing in the farm dam, or hiking, mountain biking or bird-watching, all without setting foot off De Hoop?
